I’ve been using Matomo since 2022, when I first trialed it as a replacement for the very unusable Google Analytics 4 (GA4). I’ve been singing Matomo’s praises every since — mostly because it’s incredibly simple to use. It also gives me and my team data insights I haven’t had since the early days of Universal Analytics (UA).

I particularly like the Heat Map and Session Recording tools. Recently, Matomo added a AI Assistants report, so now I can tell clients which conversions came from AI. (Hint: Despite all the hype for AI, Google search is still key for driving organic traffic.)

To become a Matomo Implementation Partner, I had to pass a marketing and a technical assessment. For the technical assessment, the person interviewing me reviewed my Matomo set-up as well. You can view my Partner Directory listing.

How I use Matomo

If you decide to hire the Huff Industrial Marketing team for a Custom Build Website, one of the first things I do is have Stephen Merriman, our developer, add the Matomo tracking code to your existing website. I want to immediately begin collecting information to provide insight through the build and for following-on marketing.

Once your new website is live, you can then retain us for the Lead Generation Marketing Program. We add the tracking code to your new website; I then begin sending you the weekly conversion reports.

As a client, you get a login to Matomo (as well as anyone on your team that you designate) where you can view your data and ask questions. Everything is 100% transparent — you see exactly what I see.

I’m very pleased to be a Matomo Implementation Partner and cannot say enough wonderful things about this company — which places users privacy first — and its product.

It’s helped change how I do marketing and given me a great deal of insight into my clients’ audiences, websites, and traffic patterns. I’d be lost without it.
